Our Collaborative Process

📜 Step 1: Initial Consultation & Inquiry

Our journey begins with a conversation about your space, goals, and ideas.

• Share your vision: Tell me about the desired location (indoor or outdoor), specific dimensions, and your color ideas.
• Aesthetic direction: We discuss your favorite textures, style preferences, and any reference images you love.
• Estimate: I will provide a preliminary budget estimation based on size, complexity, and specialized materials.

✍️ Step 2: Design Concept & Agreement

Once we decide to move forward, we formalize the creative and technical details.

• Sketches & Layouts: I design custom layout concepts or digital mockups mapping out the tile lines (andamento) for your review.
• Material Palette: We select your exact materials, choosing from rich stained glass, unglazed ceramic, or traditional Italian smalti.
• Contract & Deposit: To secure a spot on my studio calendar and purchase your custom materials, a signed agreement and a 50% non-refundable deposit are required.
  • Design Revision Policy

    Your satisfaction is incredibly important to me. The design phase includes up to two (2) rounds of minor adjustments to the initial sketch or digital rendering at no extra cost. This allows us to tweak colors, tile flow, or composition details. Any major design overhauls, concept pivots, or additional revisions beyond these two rounds will be billed at an hourly design rate of $30/hour. Please note that once the physical studio fabrication (Step 3) begins, no further design changes can be accommodated.

🛠️ Step 3: Studio Fabrication

This is where your mosaic comes to life, piece by piece, in my studio.

• Hand-Cut Tesserae or Glass: I hand-shape each individual tile using professional glass nippers and tile cutters to fit the design perfectly.
• Methodical Placement: Every piece is carefully laid and glued onto a high-quality, durable backing or mesh installation sheet.
• Behind-the-Scenes Updates: I will send you periodic photo progress updates so you can watch your artwork transform.

✨ Step 4: Grouting & Finishing

The final studio steps lock the artwork together into a cohesive, enduring masterpiece.

• Grout Selection: We choose a grout color that best highlights and unifies the mosaic colors.
• Curing & Polishing: The piece is grouted, deeply cleaned to remove tile haze, and left to fully cure.
• Sealing: A premium penetrating sealer is applied to ensure the artwork is completely protected against moisture and stains.

🏡 Step 5: Delivery & Installation

The final phase safely brings the heavy, completed artwork to its permanent home.

• Final Balance: The remaining 50% balance is settled prior to shipping, delivery, or installation.
• Secure Transport: Your mosaic is meticulously packed, padded, and handled flat to ensure a flawless arrival.
• Mounting: I will provide step-by-step installation instructions for your contractor, or coordinate the final architectural mounting on-site.

As the artist, I retain full copyright ownership of the original design, sketches, and photographs of the completed mosaic artwork. I reserve the right to share progress photos and images of the final piece on my website, social media, and in promotional materials. The client receives ownership of the physical artwork for personal or commercial display, but may not reproduce, replicate, or sell prints of the design without express written consent.
